Welcome to fourth grade! I am very excited to be a
member of the Walter Hays community and to have the opportunity
to teach your child and help guide them in their growth and learning
this year. I look forward to working with our team of parents,
students and teachers to create a supportive environment dedicated
to meeting the diversity of our students' needs and to assist
them in achieving their personal, social and academic goals. Our
class goal is to set our expectations high and to work at being
the best we can be!
The 2004-2005 school year brings me into my eighth year of full-time
teaching; my fifth year in the fourth grade in Palo Alto. Prior to my California
adventures, I taught second grade for three years in New Jersey, two years at
James Caldwell Elementary School in Springfield and one at Pope John Paul II
Elementary School in Clifton. In addition, over the past 12 years, I have also
spent time as an Instructional Aide, a Camp Director and an Arts and Crafts
Teacher in New Jersey, Massachusetts and New York, among other endeavors.
Regarding my educational background, I recieved a B.S.
in Newspaper from Syracuse University and an M.Ed. in Elementary
Education from Boston University. In addiditon, I have also earned
my Teacher of English certification in NJ and am in the process
of doing the same in California.
Personally, I love to hike, play tennis, ski, travel,
read, go to the theatre, spend time with (especially on the phone
long distance) my family and friends and decorate.
